Goodnight Pea
1
What is an awakened mind?
One who sees? And
once one sees the sweet one sees
the bitter and the brain isn’t trained
in holding opposites at once

Can you pick a dream
and live in light? Probably, sure
til' something knocks on your
door like a heart attack and you realize your diversity is
one dimensional so
you rise
like bread
from bed or be found dead
and maybe that’s ok too --
the one true
point to life is surely living
it
so want to wake and work til' you can
dream again, no?
Like training to
sleep through the feeling that you’e lying
on a bed of dying bodies elsewhere?
2
The princess — true and righteous —
will always feel the pea and never sleep
always up and trying
to perfect and
we're taught young to want
royalty because someone has to be
awake or no one ever could sleep safe. So
is the truest true to be royal, with the joy
of knowing you are royal: woke and superior?
Or is the truest true in sleeping through
the night: training to ignore the pea? And maybe
the fattest truth is the nature of change —
the cycle itself —
from princess to pauper, waking and sleeping
depending on the weather — yes
dear night crawler
dear truth seeker
dear pea feeler
life is a cycle so live
in passing and stop dying
to see it better than
the other and you can't
stop dying
so just do anything
wordless
and worthy -- worthless
and wordy
3
Just go to sleep pea --
you'll wake with the sun
if you're lucky
